Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 July 2026
This is a good-faith summary written in plain language — not legal advice. Please have your own counsel review it before relying on it.
The short version
- MailMatter gives you disposable inboxes for development and testing.
- Free to use; paid plans (Pro, Team) auto-renew and are billed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record.
- Cancel anytime — access runs to the end of your paid period.
- It's a test instrument, not a mailbox: don't rely on it to deliver or keep anything.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using MailMatter (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. MailMatter is operated as a sole proprietorship based in Taiwan (“MailMatter”, “we”, “us”).
2. The service
MailMatter provides disposable email inboxes for software development and testing. You can read mail in your browser, over an HTTP API, or through an MCP server so an agent can drive it. Inboxes are ephemeral and intended for test traffic, not for real correspondence.
3. Accounts & eligibility
Anonymous use requires no account. Creating named namespaces and API/MCP keys requires signing in with Google or GitHub. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your API keys secret; treat a key like a password. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the paid Service.
4. Plans & billing
MailMatter offers a Free plan ($0) and paid plans — Pro ($19/month) and Team ($79/month). Paid subscriptions renew automatically each period until cancelled.
Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as our Merchant of Record and authorized reseller. When you buy a paid plan, your payment is made to Paddle, and Paddle's terms and privacy policy also apply to that transaction. Paddle issues your receipts and handles taxes.
5. Refunds & cancellation
You can cancel a paid plan at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep paid access until then, and you are not charged again. If you switch to a lower-priced plan, the downgrade also takes effect at the end of the current period.
We generally do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law. Any refunds are processed by Paddle in accordance with its refund policy and applicable law. If something went wrong with a charge, email team@mailmatter.dev and we'll help.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything illegal, or to facilitate fraud, phishing, or abuse;
- use it as a spam relay or to send bulk unsolicited mail;
- attempt to access namespaces, inboxes, or mail you are not authorized to read;
- use it to receive mail on someone else's behalf without their authorization (e.g. to intercept another person's account emails);
- resell or redistribute the Service as your own;
- exceed, evade, or manipulate plan quotas and rate limits; or
- probe, disrupt, or attempt to breach the security or integrity of the platform.
We may suspend or terminate access that we reasonably believe violates these rules.
7. Ephemerality & no warranty on delivery
MailMatter is a test instrument, not a mailbox. We do not guarantee that any message will be delivered, received, retained, or available at any given time, and mail is purged automatically on a short timer. Don't store anything in a MailMatter inbox that you need to keep, and don't depend on it for production or time-critical email.
8. Intellectual property
The MailMatter platform, name, and design are our property. These Terms don't grant you any rights in them beyond using the Service as intended. Mail you receive belongs to you and its senders, not to us.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MailMatter will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim, or US$50.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold MailMatter harmless from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or misuse the Service. Because inboxes are ephemeral, there is little to wind down — any live mail is purged on its normal schedule.
13. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (R.O.C.), without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts of Taiwan will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we'll update the “last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
